Why Does My Current Movie Not Show Up in Continue Watching

Hello,

I do appreciate your efforts and time.

Do not worry, will assist you with the issue.

Try to run Hardware Troubleshooter. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly.

a. Press Windows Logo Key+X then click on Search screen.

b. Type "Troubleshooting" without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.

c. In the new window, click View all on the left pane.

d. In the list of options, click on Hardware and devices.

e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

If the issue persists, then try to uninstall and re-install display drivers.

  1. Press Windows Logo Key+X. Click On Device Manager.

  2. Then find the driver that you are trying to uninstall and right-click on it to Uninstall.

  3. Follow onscreen instructions to uninstall it.

  4. To re-install, either you can restart the system or install the driver from the manufacturer's website.

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

Unfortunately, neither solution seems to have resolved my issue. I'm still getting a black screen with audio on the external monitor, the video only displays on the laptop display. I probably should have been more clear on the initial post, this laptop has hybrid graphics with nVidia Optimus. The integrated graphics card is Intel HD 4600, the dedicated graphics is nVidia GTX 870m (not 860m as I said previously). I'm not sure if this changes anything, but I ran the troubleshooter, and tried uninstalling/reinstalling both drivers and restarted the PC but I'm still having the same issue. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Also, to provide a bit more information, it doesn't appear to be related to HDCP, as my iTunes, Google Play, and UltraViolet movies all seem to play on the external display without the issue. It seems to be only the Windows Movies & TV app that is giving me this problem. I can also play Blu-Ray movies on the external display with no problem using CyberLink PowerDVD.

Still having this issue. The PC is a MSI GT70-2PC with nVidia Optimus (hybrid graphics, nVidia GTX 870m/Intel HD 4600). If I let the playback continue enough, I get an error "Can't play. Choose something else to play. This item is in a format we don't support.0xc1010103" But the audio continues even with this error on the screen. Again, this is only happening on my external monitor connected via Mini DisplayPort, regardless if it is windowed or full screen. The monitor is HDCP compliant, and the nVidia Control Center detects it. For some reason though, only the built in monitor is showing up in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel.

This describes my issue exactly. I see only built in display on Intel. Nvidia detects it. Dell Precision M4700 Nvidia Quadro K1000m. Plays on built in display, but not my display attached via hdmi. HDCP compliant. Doesn't matter if duplicated, extended, or second screen only.
